Cristopher Montalvo, PE, Selected as Inaugural 2024 SEANM Outstanding Young Professional

The Structural Engineers Association of New Mexico proudly announces Cristopher Montalvo, PE, as the first recipient of the 2024 SEANM Outstanding Young Professional Award. This award honors exemplary structural engineers in New Mexico who impact the profession, the local community, and beyond.

The Outstanding Young Professional Award recognizes individuals affiliated with SEANM member firms, holding a New Mexico PE license, and with 3 to 9 years of industry experience. It celebrates their professional achievements and their commitment to community service and public outreach.

Cristopher embodies these qualities. As one nominator noted, "Cristopher is a young, budding engineering rockstar. He is pushing the limits of structural engineering at our firm. He started local community engagement activities, including the Young Members Group of SEANM, and serves on national engineering committees. In 2023, he was the receipt of the AISC Reidar Bjorhovde Outstanding Young Professional Award."

Another nominator added, "Cristopher founded the Younger Members Group of SEANM, organizes study groups for licensure, and teaches a concrete course at NM Tech. He is a member of the NCSEA Seismic Committee and the vice-chair of the Young Member Support Committee. He is consistently enhancing the public image of structural engineers."
